Community experiences in family poultry farming

Abstract

Poultry production in Venezuela is an activity that has been carried out since ancient times, where small farmers and families only They produced to survive; However, those figures were never quantified in the state of Monagas, but many of them kept in small batches up to 80 fine breed  birds (creoles), either in corral (chicken coops under the backyard system), so that many of them did not purchase this product in the shops. This being a particular advantage of family poultry farming, since eggs and meat ecologically in your own backyard. Currently, it is important to mention that the lines Local genetics must be strengthened and repowered with the purpose of obtaining greater production of eggs, meat and hatching of baby chicks with in order to improve the existing strains and to adapt to the environment and resist diseases.
