Abstract

Among the easy-to-manage domestic animal species are backyard poultry. These are raised by families in the backyard, either in pens, chicken coops, sheds, or outdoors, to produce eggs and meat, food products for the population. Using few resources and local materials, backyard chicken raising can be done, an activity that any small-scale livestock producer or family farmer can take part in.
