Índice de temperatura y humedad en una pastura convencional y un sistema agroforestal en el trópico seco de Colombia

Resumen

Dentro de los principales factores ambientales que afectan los organismos vivos se encuentran la radiación solar, humedad relativa (HR) y temperatura (T). El índice de temperatura humedad (ITH) es un indicador ambiental que estima las condiciones climáticas que pueden generar estrés en animales. El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar el ITH en dos sistemas de pastoreo (un sistema agroforestal y una pastura convencional) en condiciones de trópico seco. El estudio se realizó en el Centro Universitario Regional del Norte de la Universidad del Tolima. Se evaluaron tres sistemas: bajo la copa de los cítricos (BC), la franja entre árboles (ES) y un pastizal convencional sin árboles (PC). Se midió la T y HR para estimar el ITH en los tres sitios a las 7, 12 y 16 h del día, durante los meses de abril a julio de 2014. Se usó un diseño experimental con arreglo factorial. Inicialmente, los datos fueron analizados con un estadístico descriptivo y luego se hizo un ANDEVA y una prueba de comparación de test HSD de Tukey. Los resultados muestran que existen diferencias significativas (P<0,05) entre el ITH en la pastura convencional (PC) frente al sistema BC en el periodo seco y frente al sistema ES en el periodo lluvioso. Los valores de ITH de todos sitios de muestreo superaron el valor límite crítico que puede generar estrés calórico en animales.
